Donald
J. Ham, M.D., FACS, Secretary. Dr. Ham is a graduate of
Baylor College of Medicine. He interned at Methodist Hospital
in Houston, Texas, and served two years as a Flight Surgeon
in the U.S. Air Force.
After completing his ophthalmology residency at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, he returned to Alamogordo, New Mexico, establishing the first ophthalmic ambulatory surgical center in the state.
Ham has served as secretary-treasurer and resident of the New Mexico Ophthalmological Society, president of the local county medical society, and chief of staff at the local hospital. He has been a consulting ophthalmologist for the New Mexico School for the Blind and the Primate Research Institute at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. He has been associated with the RHEM since its beginning, and was chairman of the Allied Health Personnel in 1990-1991. He has performed over 1000 charity cataract surgeries in Mexico.
